The skin is a very essential part of the human body. It prevents harmful substances from entering the body and protects body tissues from injury.
There are different types of skin - Oily, Normal, Dry and Sensitive skin. You need to determine your skin type. Proper skin care is dependent on the skin type. Maintaining a healthy skin boosts self-esteem and confidence. Experts agree that daily care of the skin reducing ageing process and produces a healthy looking skin. Most times, it seems like a difficult task taking care of the skin.
Here are some skin care tips that can make it easier.
Deep Cleansing of Skin
Deep Cleansing is the foundation of good skin! It is recommended to cleanse skin twice - first to remove any film of dirt, oil deposit, stale sweat, or make-up and secondly to clean the skin itself. You need to find a cleanser that your skin responds to.
Wet your face and neck with warm water. Gently massage your face with a suitable cleanser in a circular motion. Do not use cold or hot water - always use warm water to rinse! Inadequate cleansing results in blackheads and underlying congestion of the skin pores. Skin Care Tip! - Don't ever go to bed with your make-up on!
Exfoliate Your Skin
Exfoliating the skin is a process of removing dead dry cells from off the skin's upper layer. Exfoliation accelerates the process of skin shedding caused by the regeneration of new layers of skin that occurs periodically, by removing the uppermost dead layer of cells on the surface and revealing the finer skin tissue underneath.
Your skin complexion can be improved by exfoliating the skin cells. If these dead skin cells are not removed, clogging of the pores may occur causing superficial spots or blackheads.
Exfoliating should be done weekly as too much of it can age the skin. Use a gentle scrub with tiny grains.
Use Face Masks
Face Mask are a great way of drawing out deep down dirt. They help brighten, tighten and hydrate the skin. Masks with Vitamin C help fight free radical. Apply a deep cleansing purifying mask on your face and neck in a circular motion, leave on for 15 minutes and then splash with water. Massage and rinse off. This routine should be done weekly.
Moisturize Your Skin
The most important part of skin care is moisturizing. Moisturizers restore lost moisture and seal up the moisture in the skin. Meanwhile, be careful not to over moisturize.
When choosing a moisturizer consider one that smells nice and does not leave grease on the skin. A good moisturizer should not burn the skin.
For dry skin, consider moisturizers that contain glycerin and hyaluronic acid like Euerin Extra Protective Moisture Lotion SPF 30, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer, Lancome Absolue Night Treatment or Creme de la Mer. For oily skin, look out for oil-free and noncomedogenic moisturizers like Olay Complete All-Day Moisture Lotion UV Defence Combination, Lorac Oil Free Moisturizer, or Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15. For normal skin, stick with gel formulations like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, Clarins Hydration-Plus Moisture Lotion SPF 15, Aveeno Positively Smooth Facial Moiturizer.

Vitamin A helps diminish wrinkles while Retinoids aid in quick production of new cells.

Sunlight has a tremendous effect on the skin causing premature ageing, skin cancer, and skin damage. Sunscreen creams should be used when you plan to stay a long time out in the sun on a hot day. It is advisable to use creams that have been well tested. Select a cream that suits your skin type. Look for the word "broad spectrum protection" when buying one. Skin Care Tip! Try products that are light weight and non-greasy.
Eat Well, Exercise & Hydrate
Apart from these skin care tips, a good diet and exercise can do wonders on your skin. Eat good food and avoid food that often make your face breakout like french fries, fast food, candies, chocolate and soft drinks.
